NBC: Staging the News Again?

A source who monitors political e-mail lists sent me an intriguing message disseminated last week, which involved an apparent Dateline NBC solicitation to Muslim groups. Check this out:

I hope everyone is doing well.

I have been talking with a producer of the NBC Dateline show and he is in the process of filming a piece on anti-Muslim and anti-Arab discrimination in the USA. They are looking for some Muslim male candidates for their show who would be willing to go to non-Muslim gatherings and see if they attract any
discriminatory comments or actions while being filmed.

They recently taped two turbaned Sikh men attending a football game in Arizona to see how people would treat them. They set them up with hidden microphones and cameras, etc.

They want to do the same thing 2 or 3 other times (in various parts of the USA) with one or two Muslim men in each setting. They are looking for men who actually “look Muslim”. They want a guy with no foreign accent whatsoever, a good thick beard, an outgoing personality, and someone willing to wear a kufi/skullcap during the filming.

They also want someone who is fairly well accomplished and has contributed to American society at large in some meaningful way.

That said, I’m urgently looking for someone who can be filmed this April 1st weekend at a Nascar event (and other smaller events) in Virginia. NBC is willing to fly in someone and cover their weekend expenses. The filming would take place all day on Saturday and Sunday.

We already have a hijabi sister who will be filmed there but a Muslim is also needed to join her. I also need candidates for the other filming segments which will take place in the following weeks.

A few weeks later, NBC will fly all the filmed participants to New York City to interview them as a group about their experience and thoughts on discrimination they’ve faced in America, especially in light of the times we live in (war on terror, 9-11, etc.). The show, if approved by NBC (highly likely), is expected to air sometime this summer.

What I need from interested candidates is an email with an attached clear photograph, a resume, and contact information. I also need basic information such as age, ethnic background, accomplishments, etc.

The sooner I can get this the better and please don’t make emails too long. I will then submit a group of candidates to NBC so they can choose the people for the show.

Please forward this to all Muslim lists you can. Because of the upcoming filming in Virginia, this is pretty time-sensitive. My contact information is below.

TAMPA - Changing locks on her campaign headquarters and accusing her staff of disloyalty and her own party of spying on her are signs of erratic behavior that some Katherine Harris staff members say has worsened since her father’s death.

Harris is restaffing her campaign and will announce new key staff members today, a campaign spokeswoman said Monday.

But in the past 10 days, Harris has:

•Had locks changed and posted a security guard at the door of her campaign headquarters in Tampa and had former staff members escorted in to retrieve their belongings.

•Told a gathering of supporters in Cocoa Beach on Saturday that the Republican Party had “infiltrated” her campaign staff to put “knives in my back.”

•Told a reporter that a longtime, trusted political adviser had leaked a story about her staff members quitting, then called back to retract the comments.

•Announced hiring her new staff without identifying them.

Those events come atop previous reversals and contradictions, including her announcement last month that she would spend her inheritance from her father on her campaign, which she changed, saying she would sell her assets.

Former campaign manager Jim Dornan, who left in November, called the most recent events in the campaign “unbelievable.”

“It smacks of real paranoia,” he said of the headquarters lockout and comments about infiltration. “That campaign staff was so loyal to her, and to be treated like that is absolutely unconscionable.”

In interviews over the past few weeks, speaking in confidence, former employees from Harris’ congressional and campaign staffs said the trauma of the unexpected death of her father has taken a toll.

“She’s in total meltdown. The campaign is in chaos,” said a longtime Republican operative who worked closely with Harris until recently. “She hasn’t mourned for her father.” Like many other former staff members interviewed, that GOP operative didn’t want to be quoted by name.

Many now seek other political jobs and don’t want to publicly criticize a candidate they have worked for.

Over the weekend, the last of Harris’ top staff members left the campaign, including campaign manager Jamie Miller, general consultant Ed Rollins, spokeswoman Morgan Dobbs and field director Megan Ortagus.

Several staffers, who asked not to be identified, also said Harris’ emotional stability has suffered since the death of her father, George Harris, in January.

The GOP has sent in their people with the usual ploys: emotional …something. Now they are the Democrats as the emotional police enforcing an etiquette only they understand: “She isn’t doing what we want. Therefore, ipso facto and ergo: She hasn’t ‘grieved’ properly.’”

According to some arcane emotional understanding peculiar to Republicans? Who are now trying to teach that same etiquette to Islamics who to this hour just don’t seem to get the ‘freedom agenda’? It must be terrible for them: the Republicans and Democrats are trying to teach everyone how to be embarressed into losing. It isn’t working. It never did.

Beware when “Here, let me help.” becomes a belligerent cattle prod. By anyone.

Americans have debated matters of creed and culture before. John C. Calhoun believed slavery was a cultural given that could not be undone in the South. Lincoln knew slavery had deep roots–but he believed that could, and must, change. He set about to do just that. Lincoln believed slavery could be overcome because he believed human beings were constituted in a particular way. In the “enlightened belief” of the Founders, he said, “nothing stamped with the Divine image and likeness was sent into the world to be trodden on, and degraded, and imbruted by its fellows.” Lincoln believed as well that the self-evident truths in the Declaration were the Founders’ “majestic interpretation of the economy of the Universe. This was their lofty, and wise, and noble understanding of the justice of the Creator to His creatures. Yes, gentlemen, to all His creatures, to the whole great family of man.”

What has plagued the Arab Middle East is not simply, or even primarily, culture; it is antidemocratic ideologies and oppressive institutions. And the way to counteract pernicious ideologies and oppressive institutions is with better ones. Liberty, and the institutions that support liberty, is a pathway to human flourishing.

Critics of the Iraq war have offered no serious strategic alternative to the president’s freedom agenda, which is anchored in the belief that democracy and liberal institutions are the best antidote to the pathologies plaguing the Middle East. The region has generated deep resentments and lethal anti-Americanism. In the past, Western nations tolerated oppression for the sake of “stability.” But this policy created its own unintended consequences, including attacks that hit America with deadly fury on Sept. 11. President Bush struck back, both militarily and by promoting liberty.

In Iraq, we are witnessing advancements and some heartening achievements. We are also experiencing the hardships and setbacks that accompany epic transitions. There will be others. But there is no other way to fundamentally change the Arab Middle East. Democracy and the accompanying rise of political and civic institutions are the only route to a better world–and because the work is difficult doesn’t mean it can be ignored. The cycle has to be broken. The process of democratic reform has begun, and now would be precisely the wrong time to lose our nerve and turn our back on the freedom agenda. It would be a geopolitical disaster and a moral calamity–and President Bush, like President Reagan before him, will persist in his efforts to shape a more hopeful world.

Serious alternative: Blow and bull-doze the mosques. Dig up Mohammed’s bones and burn them in the carcess of a pig. Tell the Muslims to their face Islam is over. Kill the Imans and whoever else tries to keep it going. It is just that simple. If you don’t have the ‘will’ for it, step aside. You very obviously do NOT have the ‘will’ to kill Osama bin Laden, what with all the diplomatic nicities you are deceived are basic to all human interaction.

That you are ‘flabbergasted’ to even read that shows just how belligerent you are to be ignorant.

None of your non-creating words will stop Islam. Not even one. And you can’t stop talking. By your lie of free will: lead, follow or get out of the way.

“Freedom agenda”? That’s the best you’ve got? That is your Harvard, your Yale, your Princeton and your Georgetown Diplomacy Tech Institute education peaking through as a supposed superior ‘x’?

The mouthpiece above is simply going on in the same belligerence of the President and his ilk: “Secularism (aka “freedom agenda”) is the answer and I don’t care what you say, how you say it, or how long you keep saying it isn’t: the answer is SECULARISM and MULTICULTURALISM!

They insult the very persons on whom they try to impose/enlighten within a new system of gov’t: “You were just simply too stupid to see that you should use your free will in such a manner as to give one citizen (and illegal immigrants via some mysterious fiat of ‘the economy THEY supposedly provide’) one vote.”

It isn’t whether the war has been won but whether a won war is working to prevent other wars. That a won war actually makes something else be Over and Ended. The won war and its extension war isn’t working expressly because those who see themselves as Mr. and Mrs. Policy Maker have made the Whole as anti-Christian as they possible could and tried to impose, er, ‘give’ a system of government they are genuinely deceived has nothing to do with Jesus Christ on those who loath Jesus Christ almost as much as themselves.

Period.

We are far beyond any real deception, ( even a broken mask that can be held up in pieces ), that those see themselves as Mr. and Mrs. Policy Maker are just suckers who were duped by moles from the other side posing as analyst and ‘friends’.

As they are all deceived they have free will and insist on the free will lie as a supposed foundation for all governance, within that lie, they are the biggest liars of all. And so proud of it as to ’see’ others who don’t ‘use their ‘free’ intellectual will the same way’ as backward and ignorant. One expected more from Republicans even as one always understands Democrats can’t be anything else.
