Soldiers for Duncan Hunter
Proverbs 27:2 Let another praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
Here is a post from Chuck Winn, U. S. Army retired on Duncan Hunter. He’s on staff with the Hunter campaign. God through Duncan Hunter has done more for this country’s security, economy, military and children than many, the whole while not tooting his own horn. Others speak on his behalf for those with ears to hear. Soldier’s who have served understand the necessity of the grace of God as military and political experience.
Dear Fellow Believers,
At one time or another we have collaborated on issues protecting the traditional family, the unborn, or our Nation’s security. As a career professional soldier who served in uniform for 32 years, in ranks from Private to full Colonel; and a believer who accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in 1984, please allow me to share my perspective on this year’s Presidential candidates.
There are still decent Americans sharing our Judeo-Christian values and world view in the Democratic party. Unfortunately, none of them are running for President this year or in leadership positions in Congress.
Duncan Hunter has been the leading pro-life advocate in Congress for over 26 years. Duncan served in the Army during Vietnam, rising from Private to First Lieutenant and earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and Bronze Star with the 173rd Airborne Brigade and 75th Ranger Regiment. After attending college on the GI Bill and practicing law in a store front office for a few years, he was elected to Congress in 1981 at the age of 32. In over a quarter of a century on the House Armed Services Committee, Duncan has mastered all aspects of National Security strategy and policy. He is competent to not only tactically, operationally and strategically employ our forces, but also to balance the economic, military and diplomatic elements of our National power required for a sound National Security Strategy. He recognizes that our economic security requires preserving jobs in America and a strong middle class and that our borders must be secured.
I respect the choice of fellow believers to support Governor Huckabee. He is good Christian and honorable man, but he lacks the depth of Duncan’s experience. Sen. McCain, Rep. Paul and Sen. Thompson also have voting records acceptable to a Christian world view. Governor Huckabee was not of military age during the Vietnam conflict. Sen. Thompson, although of prime military age during that era of the draft, did not serve.
The other Republican candidates do not have acceptable public records on core values issues that represent my Christian world view, and although both were of prime military age during the Vietnam era, they also did not serve in the Armed Forces. For fifteen years major strategic mistakes have been made by Administrations of both political parties which can be attributed to a lack of substantial military and foreign policy experience. In these perilous times in which we live when the fate of Western Civilization may very well be at stake, it is imperative that our next President has the breadth of Congressman Duncan Hunter’s background.
Yours in Christ,
Charles J. Winn
